Sharing a few thoughts as I turn 44
Today is my birthday. 44. And I want to share a few reflections from the past year.
It’ll probably be way too long to read- but if you stick around, thank you.
I hope something in here resonates with you or gives you something useful to take away.
When I left my corporate career a few years ago and switched to freelance work to create space and time to pursue my passion - coaching, time management, and energy work - I had no idea how deep the journey would go or what I was really getting myself into.
People often ask me:
“How’s the business going?”
“How many leads are you getting?”
“Are you fully booked?”
And it always makes me pause and think - is that the only way to define success? We rarely ask:
“How fulfilled are you?”
“What impact is your work having on you and others?”
“Are you waking up excited or just checking boxes?”
That got me thinking about my own path.
Building a new business from scratch, with no team and in a completely new field, turned out to be way harder than I expected.
Not because it’s difficult to create offers - but because it forces you to face your own blocks first. You have to transform yourself before you can fully hold space for others.
For most of my life, I chased external signs of success.
Great education. Good job. Big title. Big salary. Big clients. Trips. Condo. Car.
The usual path - predictable, socially approved, expected of you, and rarely questioned.
And I had it all. But the more I achieved, the less fulfilled I felt.
It felt good for a bit, and then I was already chasing the next thing, hoping it would make me feel happier.
Every day started to feel the same. At some point, it was like I was just going through the motions - often under pressure, feeling anxious, and constantly trying to prove myself.
There were brief moments of real joy - usually tied to vacations or doing something I loved - but overall, it was skewed toward pressure, performance, and external rewards.
So when I started coaching, I carried that same energy into it. I jumped in quickly - focused on pushing hard, creating a course, and getting to selling right away.
Driven by the desire to match the income I had before, I was focusing entirely on the outcome - not the process.
And not long after, I hit the wall.
I realized I needed to slow down, turn inward, and reconnect with myself.
I did a lot of self-reflection. I followed my heart and intuition, which led me away from surface-level productivity strategies and into much deeper work - like meditation, neuro-linguistic programming, energy, and mindset practices - through lots of training, reading, writing, practicing, and sharing with my circle.
I elevated to a new level of being more intentional, more grounded, and more in control of my energy.
As tacky as it might sound - it honestly feels like coming back to myself.
I started seeing the world a little differently, remembering who I really am, what I want to do, and reconnecting with my soul and intuition.
I wish I had started this work earlier - it changes the way you show up in life, the way you think, act, and handle tough moments.
But I also remind myself that I had to go through everything I did to get to this point - and I’m so grateful for it.
Grateful for all of it - even the heartbreak - because it pushed me toward this path of self-discovery, expanding self-awareness, and elevating consciousness.
It’s still a work in progress - the beauty of self-development is that it never really ends.
As soon as you reach one level of depth, something new reveals itself - and that’s what makes it so powerful.
And this allows me to show up more genuinely to help others - and enjoy it so much more. When I shifted from pressure and overachieving to a calmer, more relaxed focus, I started noticing amazing shifts:
After barely using LinkedIn for years, I’ve nearly doubled my following (starting from a pretty low base) when I started writing content that is true to my heart.
I now have over 500 newsletter subscribers - thoughtful, high-achieving, deeply successful people. (If you’re not yet among them, click here to subscribe - https://lnkd.in/gcBuqDan)
I’m seeing much more engagement across social media platforms and regularly receive kind messages from people I’ve never met saying how helpful and inspiring my content is.
I’ve started working with and helping amazing people - having deep, meaningful conversations that genuinely light me up, and seeing real shifts happen.
But here’s the real achievement:
Slow mornings with my family - guilt-free. Having that time gives me the space to be present with my beautiful daughter, amazing husband, and our pets - mornings filled with hugs, warmth, and joy instead of anxiety and that heavy feeling about the day ahead that I used to have.
I have more clarity on where I want to go and what I want to build to benefit others - and I’m taking my time, intentionally, with no rush or pressure, just following what feels right in my heart and walking away from old patterns of overdelivering at the expense of my peace.
I’ve never been more excited to work, stay up late learning new things and developing new ideas, and slowly build something I’m truly passionate about - work focused around energy that helps people take control of their state, productivity, happiness, and fulfillment, bounce back faster from tough moments, and have the inner strength and clarity to live life with intention.
If any of this sounds familiar or makes you think about your own situation - and you’re wondering whether it’s worth following your intuition, doing something that might not make sense but just feels so right in your heart - here’s what I’ve learned:
Real success starts on the inside.
Chasing success without understanding yourself first is a much harder path. You can still achieve a lot, build an amazing career, and make lots of money - but it often comes at a higher cost: feeling deeply unfulfilled or like something’s missing, burnout, constant pressure, stress, and feeling disconnected from yourself, your loved ones, and the things that truly light you up.
Getting out of your head and into your heart changes everything. When you listen to your intuition, follow your heart and curiosity, and say yes to what your soul is quietly whispering - you begin to uncover the thing you were always meant to do. Something that feels natural to you, that others need, and that brings you genuine joy and fulfillment.
Energy is the foundation of success.
You can have the perfect offer, solid insights, and a well-built funnel - but if deep down you’re holding fear, doubt, or thoughts like “what if it doesn’t work” that energy is felt. And it becomes your biggest block.
Starting with your inner energy and working through those blocks and limiting beliefs is where real transformation begins.
That’s why I’ve slowed down and focused on my own alignment - because how you feel while building something matters just as much as what you’re building.
Real success takes time - and trust.
Every meaningful process has its own gestation period. A flower takes time to bloom. A tree takes years to grow. A child takes 9 months to develop.
We know how long it takes, and we don’t rush it. We just keep nurturing it.
It’s the same with the ideas, businesses, new projects, relationships. The tricky part is that we don’t always know what the timeline is.
So the only way through is to trust the process - show up, do the work each day, and keep moving forward, even when it feels slow or insignificant.
It all adds up over time and brings real results when it’s genuine, comes from the heart, and stays aligned with your deeper vision and values.

I’ve probably forgotten a few things I wanted to share - there’s been so much amazing energy and mindset work lately - but this post is already long enough.
If you’ve made it this far, thank you. You’re my kind of person :)
Feel free to drop me a line if you ever want to chat more about energy - I’m always happy to share what I’m learning, practicing, and seeing actually work, and start another meaningful connection.
Here’s to another year of personal growth, reflection, slowing down, and reconnecting with what truly matters.
To living in alignment with values, passions, and strengths.
And to defining success - not by income, sales, titles, likes, or leads - but by impact, contribution, joy, fulfillment, inner alignment, and peace of mind.
To all my old and new followers - I’m so glad you’re here. ❤️
